Over the past few days, news about Nintendo’s next-gen Switch handheld console has once again become a hot topic among many players. From the leaked 3D renders and some real-life photos circulating online, I feel like it doesn’t look that different from the current Switch—am I seeing things?!
Overall, it seems like the screen has gotten larger, now featuring a bigger 8-inch display, along with magnetic Joy-Con controllers (which don’t seem to have changed much). It has USB-C ports on the top and bottom, is equipped with 12GB of RAM, supports HDMI 2.1, and comes with 256GB of internal storage. The leaked images are consistent with the design that Nintendo has reportedly shown to its partners.
Previously, Nintendo was planning to unveil the next-gen console before March 31, 2025, but recent reports this month suggest it could launch as early as October, priced at $400. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold. However, it seems that Nintendo’s next handheld console will be arriving soon. With the growing competition from increasingly powerful PC handhelds, I wonder if Nintendo’s new system will eventually just be for playing Zelda and Mario—although, to be honest, those games are more than enough to keep us entertained!
